Scienceplay
I want to teach the world to play with Science and this blog contains some ideas along those lines. Most particularly it is about encouraging scientific behaviour and thinking in young children (preschoolers.) As it is for young children it will have more pictures and videos than words. Hopefully these will act as models for behaviour, catalysts for discussion and inspiration for play.

Composing with Food
When things are relaxed enough it's always good to get kids to help with food preparation. Feeling those textures, using their hands, eyes (and invariable taste buds) at the same time, seeing changes happening, weighing and measuring.
Here is a little idea of extending food preparation to thinking about patterns and rhythms!!

Look closely
Here are some pictures to look closely at, find patterns and to talk about what you see with someone.
Can you find the criss cross patterns? Can you see the cat?
Can you see the spiral, the zig zags and the stripes?
These pictures and questions and more are in the book...
Why are the Rocks All Different?

Meet Mess 'n' Mate
Mess 'n' Mate is a double headed affable green kid monster who is curious and loves to investigate. Here you can find episode one of him/her finding out about bubbles in Jelly Jym....
Jelly Jym uses demonstration, humour, story, animations, observational video, puppets, pretending and singing to do science for little monsters. If you are in a hurry to see episodes 2-5 you can see them at www.jellyjym.blip.tv or you can wait for them to come here.
